Complete Run of Action Comics to Auction

PBA

Justice League of America Numbers 1-100 is one of the lots in the PBA auction

Every issue of Action Comics will be going under the hammer at PBA Galleries in its DC Universe Collection Part 6 next month.

From Action Comics #1 (June 1938) featuring his origin and first appearance through issue #700, the auction showcases dozens of other significant milestones including the first appearance of Supergirl (#252, May 1959) the first appearance of Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and the debut of several of Superman’s super-powers including flight and x-ray vision. The auction also features rare Superman ephemera, games, and a rare Atom Man vs. Superman original one-sheet movie poster from 1950.

The comics in this auction are from The DC Universe Collection comprising more than 40,000 comic books representing every single DC comic published for retail sale from 1934 through 2014, among them the first appearances of Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Justice Society of America.

The collection was originally amassed by British music producer Ian Levine, and later sold to the current consignor, who wishes to remain anonymous. PBA’s debut DC Universe Collection sale was in 2022, and the final one will take place next year.

“The runaway success of the new Superman movie shows how enduring an icon Superman is in our culture," said Director of Comics, Ivan Briggs. "Hundreds of millions of fans have been enthralled and inspired by the adventures of Superman, a sprawling, mythic saga rooted in one epic comic book, Action Comics #1."
